The University Community, especially students would recall that on 7th August, 2023, the University Management released an advisory information asking students living in some high risk areas to relocate to safer locations where their security and safety would be better guaranteed.
It has however become necessary and important for Management to reiterate its stand on the said circular in view of the current spate of insecurity in those high-risk areas, and for the fact that some students refused to heed the advisory notice/information.
For the avoidance of doubt, the advisory is hereby endorsed and reissued for the attention and strict compliance by all the students concerned.
“In view of the current festering insecurity in the state, Management strongly advise students not to take accommodation in high risk areas (Damba and its environs or outskirts). Students are advised in their own interest not to take accommodation in these areas. Alternatively, students can take accommodation downtown where security is guaranteed. For those who have taken accommodation in such areas, they are advised to relocate to safe haven”.
“Students should note that anybody who fails to heed this advice and takes accommodation in the high risk areas, does so at his or her own risk and the University will not be liable in event of any unfortunate incident. To be fore warned is to be fore armed”.
