Preparation: If you fail to plan, you are equally planning to fail. You should always create enough time and space for adequate preparation. No matter how easy an exam look, you still need to prepare for it. Never go into an exam hall without absolute conviction that you have done your best to prepare for that exam. Familiarize yourself with the marking scheme: This is one thing I advise all WAEC candidates to do before sitting for any exam. You should familiarize yourself with the marking scheme such that you already know which questions carry the most points. Get yourself A Jotter: There are two major benefits of jotting down notes while reading. The first is that it helps you to better understand what you are reading. Sometimes when you are writing an exam, you may have totally forgotten what you read but you somehow manage to remember what you wrote. It also makes future reading easier. All you need to do is pick up the notes you have made and read instead of going through the whole book again. It’s marvelous how the brain works. Be Confident in your abilities: This point cannot be overemphasized. Always believe in yourself and your ability. Practice Past Questions: About 70% of WAEC Examinations are based on past questions. Practicing past questions will give you an insight as to the types of questions you should expect in any Examination. see: Waec Time Table | Waec Syllabus for All Subjects 2017/2018 Get enough rest: Do all your preparation before the examination day and make sure you get enough rest on the night before your exam. This will help you to remain alert and fresh throughout your exam and you won’t sleep off in the course of the test. Stick to the rules: You might have gotten away with this so many times in the past but don’t forget that “every day is for the thief but one day is for the owner”. The WAEC Examination rules are simple, do yourself a favor and stick to them. This will actually allow you to focus better on what you have in front of you rather than stretching your neck like a giraffe. ad: Jamb CBT Software Write Legibly: A lot of WAEC Candidates fail their exam due to poor handwriting. Usually the Examiners are in a hurry to mark as many scripts as possible because that’s how they get paid. So when they come across a script with terrible handwriting, they do not hesitate to mark down the script, make sure you write clearly such that examiners don’t have to stress themselves to see. Also, obey simple rules like do not write in the margin and the likes, there are some very angry examiners and you won’t like to be their scapegoat. Also, don’t answer five (5) questions when you are to answer just four (4). The examiner might think you are trying to play on his intelligence or Oversabi! Kindly leave a comment below. Let us know what other rules we need to obey and whichever one you disagree with.
