Tips that will help students to be focused in their academics
STEP ONE: GET ORGANIZED: Help yourself get organized by planning your schedules and following them through. This can be achieved by getting a daily planner which should enable you keep up with your timetables, test dates and homework assignments. Also, learn to meticulously organize all your school materials efficiently and neatly. This should ensure that your mind is relaxed and your thoughts streamlined instead of ever having to look for your stuff and getting worried/distracted in the process.
STEP TWO: GET YOURSELF A DESIGNATED STUDY AREA: It’s very important for every student to have [their] designated study areas. This could be anywhere in the house- living room, at the dining room table, a desk in a corner of the room, daddy’s study or a home library. These study areas are also called “Study Grams” and it is imperative to establish it as a quiet zone during a specific time that all family members must respect. In other words, eliminate distractions such as noise from the television or cell phone calls and texts.
STEP THREE: YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE SOME CHOICES ON HOW BEST TO STUDY: Decide whether you’d like to occasionally study with a friend and get your parents to approve. Now bear in mind that working with peers can be very helpful, especially if you are the sort of teenager that needs help with certain subjects such as Mathematics. Consequently, if this helps in anyway, ensure to get it going because at the end, all everyone should be concerned about is that you concentrate on your studies and excel academically.
STEP FOUR: MODEL EFFECTIVE STUDY AND ORGANIZATIONAL HABITS: Look around you for role models to emulate. This shouldn’t be hard especially if you have responsible parents. They should be organized by nature. Observe how they plan their day, schedule their work and family time and even plan family budgets and or expenditures. All of these should influence you into being able to plan your activities- school, study time, play time, rest time. But then your parents aren’t just the only role models they are; there are your teachers, your prefects, your uncles and aunts and even your colleagues! Associate with this motivate you for success and read up books and web articles that educate you on ways to organize your mind for optimal productivity.
