Do you know that you can score high in Jamb 2017 and still fail to gain admission? Continue reading for possible reasons and what you should do right now.

I hear candidates say, “I scored above the Jamb cut off mark for my school, therefore, my admission is sure”. This is actually a complete fallacy. That you scored above Jamb 2017 general cut off mark for your school doesn’t mean that you will be offered admission.

It is one thing to score above the general cut off mark while it is another to actually get a score that will launch you into you course of choice. This particular score is what matters.

Jamb releases official cut off mark each year. This cut off mark only qualifies you to be screened. After that, you can either be admitted to study your desired course or a related one. In some cases, you will not be admitted at all.

Example, if the Jamb cut off mark for Unilag is 200, it doesn’t mean that you will be admitted to study Medicine with a score of 230. The scores for each courses and faculties vary and always above the cut off marks. This score varies based on how competitive a course is. This is why Medicine usually have higher Jamb cut off marks than Engineering.
